Hi, I'm trying to share my T610's Orange internet connection to my laptop, and after reading a few guides, I have taken the following steps:

1) Pair devices both ways (Laptop to T610, T610 to laptop)
2) Display T610's services
3) Double click Dial-up Networking to connect

However, I cannot connect to my T610's dial-up networking feature. I receive the following error message:

The Dial-up Networking connection failed: The operation could not be completed. The error was 0x81000015

I don't know what this means, and I don't even know if I'm taking the right steps to use my phone's connection on my laptop.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Dave

Do you use firewall and/or antivirus software, and what bluetooth software are you using? This message was posted from a T610

Windows Firewall is enabled on the laptop, I have no antivirus software installed.

Bluetooth software? I have the WIDCOMM drivers installed, and I also have the Sony Ericsson Dial-Up Networking Wizard installed (that can't find the phone).

One thing that might help, I've just used the SE Dial-Up Networking Wizard to establish the connection with infrared, and it works ... so it's something to do with Bluetooth?

Thanks, Dave.

After fiddling a little more, I have noticed that as soon as I connected the T610 to the laptop with infrared for the first time, it automatically installed "IR Modem", so I tried to find a "Bluetooth Modem" and it wasn't installed. So, I installed it manually, using Windows XP's install modem from a list feature. Still no luck.

If I go into the Sony Ericsson Dial-Up Networking Wizard, it searches for connected phones, and I see Bluetooth go active on the laptop. However, the T610 doesn't respond (and I can't see any activity shown by the arrows next to the Bluetooth icon), and that same error message is displayed on the laptop.

This is really bothering me now. Does anyone have any ideas?

Windows' and original bluetooth drivers can interfere. Are you using widcomm drivers for any other services (obex etc.) If not uninstall it completely and then use windows drivers. This message was posted from a T610

Thanks for your reply. I have just formatted the laptop, and am currently installing XP.

It was due for a format anyway, and at least now I know I've got a clean canvas.

Before I formatted though, I removed the WIDCOMM drivers and XP installed its own. I paired the T610 and the laptop (from the laptop) and during the operation, XP installed two serial ports and a Bluetooth modem from the phone. WIDCOMM doesn't do this?

So I then ran the Sony Ericsson Dial-Up Networking wizard again, and it found the phone, but it couldn't find the Bluetooth modem when I went to create the connection.

I'll try again after I've formatted.

Ok. Post what you did. I had the same problem as you did, in fact everytime I installed widcomm drivers an error occured- everytime different one. Now I don't use sp2, everything works better. This message was posted from a T610

I see. I'd like to keep SP2 on the laptop, and to be honest I'd like to use the WIDCOMM drivers (I did do OBEX file transfers) but if I have to use the Windows ones I'm not too worried.

So far I have formatted the laptop, installed Windows 2000 and upgraded to Windows XP (blue screens if I install XP fresh, old-ish laptop) and now I'm installing SP2.

After I've done that, I'll plug the dongle in and let Windows install the drivers. Then I shall install the Sony Ericsson Dial-Up Networking Wizard and see if I can setup the connection.

Thanks for your help so far.

Right, okay, SP2 is installed and Windows has installed its own drivers for the Bluetooth dongle.

I have paired my laptop and my T610, everything is fine there. During the pairing process, the laptop found two serial ports and a "Standard Modem over Bluetooth link" which it put on COM4.

If I use the Sony Ericsson Dial-Up Networking Wizard, it finds the phone, asks me what I would like to call this new connection, then prompts me to choose what modem I want to use to establish this connection. However, it doesn't find the Bluetooth modem.

If I use Windows XP's manual connection wizard, I can't select the Standard Modem over Bluetooth link on COM4 as the modem to use.

I'm all out of ideas.

Here's an update: it was working...

I created a connection using Windows XP's wizard (connecting to the internet instead of connecting to another computer, oops) and it worked.

But now if I try to connect I receive the following error message:

Error 633: The modem (or other connecting device) is already in use or is not configured properly.

Doh!
