I heard that the only way to enable this phone to play MP3's is to flash the firmware, but I also heard that if you do this that you lose the ability to type in Japanese. Is this true?

I basically want to be able to play mp3's as well as being able to receive and send mail in Japanese.

Tell more information please?

Do you intend to use, for example, a Uk Sim or will you roam using the Japanese u-sim?

I think relfashing will loose Japanese.

I am in Japan, but only temporarily. I intend to use the phone in North America.
