no, you won't be able to do it that way. You are going to have to use the cradel i am affaird as the update requires the phone to be off, so bluetooth would not work. What error messages do you get when you try to connect your phone? First thing to check is if you have any firewalls or anti-viruses....if you do then switch these off, restart your computer and then try and connect your phone....

the message I get is "phone not detected" I have read many postings about people with the same problem as me. I not sure how to turn off the firewall on my laptop and I am running Norton anit virus. I went to my device manager to see if there was a yellow flag and there was in the USB.

im taking a guess yor using xp right? ok go back to device manager click the usb device with the yellow flag and update driver/re-install abd all should hopefully be fine! please note i have a p800 but that always sorts the problem! as for norton antivirus that shouldnt affect it if it oes just disable it when you want to connect you phone;)

thanks for the reply but I tried doing the update but no luck. I am using XP with all current updates. Is there another way around this besides formating my computer? This is getting frustrating....

well formatting your computer isn't going to magically make XP recognize your sync station. You are gonna have to try to find a few versions of the drivers and try each one.

Hi: I had exactly the same problems with my new 910i and spoke to about 6 different SE help staff, some of whom were not very helpful at all. However, one suggested loading the latest PC Suite software from the SE site. This turned out to be OLDER than the one that came with the fone. 3.1.1 compared to 3.2. Tech support were unaware of the 3.2 that came on the CD...! However, I had more luck with the older software. If the cradle doesn't see the fone, I just go into the PC suite and try and sync and then it miraculously sees it... .

SE Support 1 out of 10. Final result: acceptable!
Best of luck

if the yellow sign is up it is because you proberbly did not install the drivers correctly. Download the latest drivers from here:

http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]1&pid=10183&fid=11349&esi=true

Then save the file some where where you can access it e.g. in the C drive make a folder called 'SE drivers'.

1. Right Click on 'My Computer'
2. Click on the 'hardware' tab
3. Go to Device Manager
4. Go to the usb section and find the sync station
5. Double click it and go to update driver
6. Say that you manually want to seclect it and point it to the newly created folder SE driver.
7. Restart your computer.

About your firewall? It is a 3rd party one or microsoft xp? Are you using service pack 1 or 2?

An interesting fact about upgrading firmware! I upgraded to the new R4A10 version of the organiser. I had to reformat the phone after a few days, and found that the phone installed the new organiser version installed! Obviously, upgrading firmware installs the new firmware in the phone, so one doesn't have to re upgrade firmware after a phone format!
Cheers all!

Hi there

Check if your phones cable status is not clicked on modem.
Another problem could be that the craddle is no correctly installed. I will suggest you take out the cable from you laptop, go to the yellow flag usb and remove it. Then reinstall the craddle driver and SE pc suite.

Hope it will work, I had the same problem and I removed everything and started all over.
