A question for developers:
I have a file QIKKEYBOARD.R27 - a file with Polish keyboard layout. Is it possible to use it without the rest of Polish localisation? How to make the system to 'see' layouts hidden in this file?

I tried a nasty hack to get the phone to use a modified keyboard layout file (to fix my not-easy-to-find-an-apostrophe problem discussed in another thread)...
basically, the phone can only use the keyboard layout files from where they are (Z: drive)... even if you edit various files to make them point to a file on C: or D: then you'll end up without a usable virtual keyboard (it will make an error beep every time you try to open it).
Perhaps a modified firmware flash could insert your keyboard layout file instead of the original, failing that, hope that someone comes up with a keyboard layout editor (for eZiTap or something).

Well, this kb layout is a part of Polish localization. I DO NOT NEED the entire language change, but the keyboard only. If I put only this layout file to C:\System\Data, and the elocl.27 file into C:\System\libs I can select Polish language in the Control Panel. But when I do so - I get the kb layout, but all other applications captions are changed to eg. Cmra, qctlpnl, etc.

You can change keybord. No changes on Z drive is needed.
1.Select language you want.
2.c:sysned/data/ there must be qikkeybord.rXX (in extensoin rXX is languge keybord. (XX - is number) for example in american english qikeybord.r10)
3.Change extansion in your Polish file to one you already have in system/data on C:
4.Overwrite file on phone on changed one.
5.Post reply if it worked or not...

Good luck

There is no QIKKEYBOARD.* in c:\system\data folder - I use default british english layout.

Does anyone know British English extension (like 10 for US english, 27 for Polish, etc.) I'l try renaming the QIKKEYBOARD.r27 to QIKKEYBOARD.r[code].
