> T68i - Apparently no GSM 1800 reception
Bookmark topic
I do not seem to receive an GSM 1800 networks on my T68i. In the same reception area, my T28s shows a GSM1800 provider. The T68i only shows the GSM900 providers. Changing SIM (between GSM900 and GSM1800 providers ) makes no difference.
If I go into the service menu, GSM900,1800 and 1900 are displayed as expected.
I think it's a hardware fault, but does anyone know of a software block ?

Not locked to a single service provider. Bought phone SIM free (in Dubai duty free) and have been using it with Telkomsel SIM

@ oastie
Set your phone "Connect > GSM Networks > Search Mode to Automatic"
FYI. Telkomsel SIM works on GSM1800 only at some certain area.
My t68i works well on GSM1800 using IM-3 SIM.

Thanks for comment Arus.
However, I always do have my settings on Automatic. Know about Telkomsel, 1800 coverage. It's the IM3 I want, to get the GPRS...
I'm off to Ericsson service tomorrow to have the T68i checked.
Have you been using the GPRS ok on IM3 ?

@oastie,
yup, It's quit good using GPRS on IM-3, and still free of charge (for browsing wap) until now. It cost you only when you download.
And the IM-3 coverage (of GSM) are ok too. At some certain IM-3 blank spot area the network will switch to Sat-C operator automatically. (these two operators co-operate indeed).
But when the network switch to Sat-C you can't use GPRS since Sat-C still not yet applied their GPRS.
Happy enjoy.

Looks like it will be a while before I get to use M3 and GPRS.
Took it to Ericsson dealer in Roxy Mas, Jakarta. They say they have tried to fix it to no avail, asking for 2 million for a replacement !
It's only 2 weeks old. Had this bad response from Ericsson, so called service network before, with a T28s. The worldwide cover seems to be a figment of somebodies imagination.
All emails to Sony-Ericsson via their website go unanswered.
Any Sony-Ericsson people want to comment ?
