> T616 blue display/screen

Hi.
After my T616 fell down from my waist, the display only shows a blue background. Everything else works fine, I can do and receive a phone call, take pictures and use Bluetooth or IrDA.
Would a display/LCD replacement solve the problem?

It should do. A local service centre could have a look. Or you could have a in at replacing it yourself

Yep, I guess I'll first take it to a service centre and get it repaired, the problem is that here in Argentina, spare parts are very expensive...
Maybe I'll buy a new LCD display at eBay, they're only USD29.99 (plus S&H) and replace it myself.

first try and moving the screen about a bit, u will need to open the phone up, however it is probably that this mite fix ur problem.
disconnect it then reconnect it properly

I had the same problem you described, but not because the phone fell. there was just a blue screen, and sometimes a corrupted block showing the colors of the last selected theme in a strange way, and rarely the screen saver clock italicized with an angle of > 60°
So, I gave it to the service center, after two weeks of so-called repair time, they reported that the phone was irrepairable. So, I went and bought a T39 from eBay which was just the perfect solution.

I'll try fixing it myself first (have to get a T6 screwdriver). By looking at the replacement LCD (http://tinyurl.com/6xrhp), there might be just a bad connection between the flat cable and the phone mainboard (?) connector as a result of the shock...
Then if I have no success, I'll take it to a repair centre to see what happens. I'll keep you posted.

They told me that repairing the cellphone will cost me AR$ 260 (about US$ 90), that's almost the cost of a new one!!. According to them, the circuit board and the EPROM are broken... so, it's not just the LCD which was my first guess.
I don't know how the EPROM or the main board could broke up because the phone was working when I took it there, I could make a receive calls, take pictures, etc....
Any suggestions apart from a decent T616 funeral?

I went to one of my carrier's (CTI Argentina) stores to buy a new phone for my wife and they offered me a Motorola C650. It costs U$100 (sounds very good taking into account the cost of repairing my T616 ($90)).
I never had a Moto, what would you do? Is it a good phone?

It may well be that the phone's LCD has become disconnected or dislodged from the pcb. The LCD is connected to the motherboard via a ribbon that slots into a connector on the PCB, it may just be a case of pushing this ribbon back into the connector, which is done by taking the phone apart, and simply lifting the small silver metal bar on the connector up, sliding the ribbon back in, then putting this silver bar back down again, a relatively simple operation.
If it isn't this, then it could need a replacement screen.
