I'm presently having trouble getting email to work using the bog standard Orange Internet account email on my T68i.

These are the settings I've got:

Under Messages - Email - Options I have an account called 'Orange email' which have these settings:

1. Connect using - Orange Internet
2. Protocol - POP3
3. Inc. server - pop.orange.net
4. Incoming port - 110
5. Mailbox -
i.e.: if my orange.net email account was 'my.account@orange.net'
i would put 'my.account' as my mailbox.
6. Password -
7. Outgoing server - smtp.orange.net
8. Outgoing port - 25
9. E-mail address -
i.e.: 'my.account@orange.net'
0. Download - Headers+text
From name -
Signature - I haven't got one set
Copy outgoing - Off
Check interval - Off

I can't send or receive email and always get the error message -
Cannot connect to server.

What am i doing wrong? do I need to get email un-barred or something by phoning Orange customer services?

I have the same settings as you, BUT where my email address is sstaiano@orange.net, in "mailbox" it says just "staiano", not "sstaiano".
Is this relevent?

It is the only thing I can think of as all the other settings are the same.
Failing that, I find orange fax/data helpdesk very good at these things.

i have the same settings but mine works fine but most of the time i use ericsson for normal wap, just ring 156 from your phone option 3 and they should be able to sort it for u.

you could try using ip adresses instead of incoming and outgoing mail server names.

I've followed that link and tried it using both a BT account and Orange.net account, and still all I get is server not found (bt) or cannot connect to server (orange).

This is pissin me off!

Eh? My password is in there. I've re-typed it to be sure.

Still same problem.

Orange gave out information about closing the service early november,as an alternative they recomended opening a "no ties" acount at freeserve (no charge either) to set up your pop 3,i use it,it works fine with your existing Orange email address & Orange email "text alerts" work the same. the new settings have been posted a few times on here,Also Orange tech support (dial 156 it`s free on contract) will send the settings. it uses a freeserve 0845 dial up,+ the freeserve user id & password, outgoing & incoming servers DO NOT change from pop.orange.net & smtp.orange.net.
