Hi,
I used to be with T-Mobile (USA) but I recently switched to Cingular since their coverage is a lot better in my area.

Anyway, with T-Mobile I used to have the unlimited internet plan to connect my laptop using my phone as a modem. It was $19.95/month.

Now I'm with Cingular and I don't know if I'm missing something, but do they charge $79.99 for this exact same service ( http://www.cingular.com/business/data_connect_rate ). Or am I looking at the wrong stuff?

I think if you use your phone as a modem as long as you have the unlimited internet package which i think is called wireless edge or somthing like that. you should not be charged that much. I think im paying $25 for unlimited internet on my cingular plan.

How did you use your phone as a modem though? I am curious to the settings.

JochenS,

They do have a 'Data Connect for PDAs' plan for $44.99 in the consumer area however I do not think you will be able to use it as a modem.

Some markets may vary slightly however most Cingular markets you are probably going to have to the $79.99 for a similar connection to your old T-Mobile.
