Yeah! Which is the best? And why? Include comparisons and user experiences to prove your point! I'm a satisfied AMD user and would like to know how good (or bad) :-D the other side of the divide is! Lets begin!......... This message was posted from a T230

AMD of course! Better than Intel, cheaper and more stable IMO AMD rules!

ask me what's good? u c i've a notebook and the amd fellows haven't yet come up with a challenge 2 intel's centrino technology. intel's processors 4 notebooks consume less power and they are lighter than amd. i hav no opinion on desktop processors. This message was posted from a WAP device

Ive had a PIV at 2,4ghz for 3,5 years and still runs like a dream, plays all new games. Ive never had the chance/misfortune to really test an AMD, but my opinion is this:
Why pay the same price for a AMD64 4000+ (im sure no more than 3ghz), when you can buy a PIV at 3,4 Extreme edition and overclock it like hell, probably to at least 4,2ghz, that way it would easly out perform any AMD (probably without even overclocking).
In the end thats all AMD do, they sell you a 2ghz processor giving 3ghz power.

Or you could buy a athlon 64 3000+ with heatsink for £97 gbp inc VAT, and overclock it to 4000+ speed (which runs stable at 45o c on standard cooling...) These chips overclock over 30% as standard!

This will save you hundreds of pounds, also the pentium 4 consumes double the power of the amd, meaning you spend even more money on upgrading power supplys and heatsinks, or even watercooling.....

The above said amd cpu is within a few percent of the video encoding benchmark of the P4 3.6g EE anyway, And when you play games on it you wont know whats hit you....

If you bank balance looks like my mobile number and your iq is less than my age, buy a P4. The amd is the best buy, isnt that what we all want?

Edit.. With cpus you have to realize that ghz is only how many cycles the cpu goes through per second... The clever part is making a cpu that does much more work per cycle!

If clock speed really counts, compare an intel and AMD processor running at the same clock speed and then you'll know what the difference is! This message was posted from a T230

Exactly, by follings own admission a amd 64 running at 3ghz gives you 4.5ghz p4 power (except the intel cpu would melt a hole in your pc and cost as much as the entire amd system...)
