Technology that brings the true convenience of handwriting to phones. Decuma Alphabetic from Zi Corporation, the developer of the eZiTap FEP, is a powerful handwriting recognition software package for US and Western European characters, modeled closely after actual writing. A single input area is used for writing and presenting recognized letters, and for editing the text. This makes input natural and fast, and allows you to focus on the content rather than the writing.
You don't have to learn a certain writing style or special alphabet. Uppercase and lowercase characters, digits, punctuation marks and special symbols, as well as accented characters, can be mixed in the same input mode.
Editing is done directly in the input area using intuitive gestures to delete and insert one or several characters. Simply overwrite misinterpreted characters. Add shortcuts for convenient input for frequently written words and phrases.
Product features:
Decuma alphabetic recognizes a broad range of entries - all within the same input screen.
Automatic multi-lingual alphabetic language support
Recognizes 15 languages with a variety of writing styles
Including language-specific characters
No mode changes between languages
Case-sensitive input (upper case, lowercase)
Numbers
Punctuation
Special symbols
Multi-letter entry
Capability to enter single letters or multiple letters for fast recognition
Decuma Alphabetic currently supports Albanian, Danish, Dutch, English, Finnish, French, German, Icelandic, Irish, Italian, Luxembourgish, Norwegian, Portuguese, Spanish and Swedish characters as well as different writing styles in these languages.
The software is compatible with Sony Ericsson P800/P900/P910 devices.
Intuitive user interface: The unique, patented graphical user interface enables rapidly intuitive input, using a single input area for multiple functions - writing, presenting recognized letters, editing and correcting text. The user interface can be moved around the screen and collapses for easy access to the whole screen. It also includes a menu for easy access to Setup, Help and a Demo.
Easy editing with natural gestures: Edit directly in the input area by using natural and intuitive gestures to:
Delete one or several characters: Insert spaces or missing characters with one simple gesture. Replace misinterpreted characters simply by overwriting them
Personalization of unique entry: User-defined characters and symbols are recognized immediately after input and can be used to improve the recognition of specific characters, or to shorten the writing of frequently used words and phrases.
Capturing your hand naturally with:
High recognition accuracy
Intuitive user interfaces
Recognition of all writing systems and styles
Personalization of unique entry.

Can't change "text input" on my Voda branded P910. Clicking on it dims the display briefly but nothing happens.
So even though I have it (and Ezitap) installed, I can't select either.
Any ideas anyone?

Well on first impressions l don't like it!
The input area is far too small & I don't like how it covers an area of the screen.
It's also difficult to differentiate between capitals and small letters due to the tiny writting area.
lt's also slower l think having to wait for it to recognise each letter. (even with the setting on faster)
Some nice features though, especially the shortcuts but the interface needs VAST improvement! The standard interface is perfect

I thought there would have been more interest in this
Or is it that people much prefer to complain about things they don't like e.g. on single letter recognition, and then don't come back when there is a solution & they can't complain any more

I like it but for a few things:
1) Shortcuts - now these are cool, however they only seemed to work for me if i did the shortcut "key" as a single written character (ie linked s and e) just writing se and then pressing the > would only put se into notepad. Maybe an s> button and > button woudl solve this, as i don't link my writing for the most. (maybe i'm just wierd like that lol)
2) The window and toolbar, can these at least be user positionable? Either through something you click on to drag the tool bar or by some ort of setting? The minimise is great but for instance i'd prefer it to minimise above all the buttons in jotter and leaving the notification area free. The input window like wise i'd actually like to move down in some circumstances.
3) Is the price in US? Ugh
4) An extra input line in the input window would be nice as it does allow for sentence writing, again maybe i just write a little large but I found myself having to > every 2.5-3 words or so. (Or maybe a small
downward triagle to add upto say 5-10 input lines?)
Other that those personal niggles, the software is nice. Easy to use, fast, doesn't slow the phone down, trouble free install.

I will give this a shot. Right now the phone doesn't like 1 in every 5 letters I write. If this will let me string multiple letters together, and recognize a larger percent of characters I write, then I will be impressed.
No harm in trying.
