Hi there, please forgive any completely naive etc questions I'm gonna ask here today...
I recently got hold of a prototype model R520m (as a freebie its hardly a bad deal!) and I'm wondering if there's any way that I can update the firmware, because frankly, it crashes and is missing several features ("Not yet implemented" being a prominent message!).

S/W info is...R1A76prgCXC125291 If you're into that sorta thing

ALSO! I got a t20s which I have a data cable for, but have no instructions on even getting the damned animation software working - all it gives is 'no response from mobile' which also happens on a t29 I tried - is there some serial port parity/baud/Correction combination that I need to know?#

Cheers

Regarding your question on updating the firmware / software for the prototype R520m, I don't think it can be done. In Singapore, the Ericsson Service Centre would not upgrade the firmware. I tried to get it upgraded at a Service Point but it could not be done. It was sent to the Service Centre and was rejected.

My understanding is that it can't be done as a Ericsson policy. But if you know someone working at a Service Centre, he might help you to do it. Cheers.

look underneath the battery on the label... if it says something like "evulation model" you can't have it updated... theese phones are a bit special, and shouldn't be circulating on the ordinary market..

See behind the R520, if it says TU4 then it is as good as a retail version. However, only SE can flash the phone as the service center cant due to the fact that their service program works on the IMEI of the phone. The prototype uses a different IMEI number. As for the cable question. He the cable isnt from E/// then you most probably have a service cable. Hope this helps. This post was posted from a R520
