Can anyone tell me how to withhold my phone number when dialing from my 910. Also is there any way of sending a text anonymously?
Having read an article on the bbc's website I was wondering how this was done.
Thanks

witheld dialling must be activaded from your service provider. Then you can press *31* or #31# before the number....
There was once a third party app who let us send sms by no-number. But that service has been closed. check it out here:

you can use quickcontact for witholding your number when dialling.
You can create a category with "witheld number" - any contact there will not see your number (a contact can figure in multiple categories)

If you are dialling with the flip closed you can enter the number, press the menu key(top far right )
and select 'hide my number' from the options. alternatively get your service provider to block
it for you. There are obvious pros and cons to having this setup.

there are many people who only have one mobile phone and do not want business clients or medical patients to know their personal number. This is why my father's mobile number is always private.

Is this where the bit about having two lines on your simcard kicks in?
If I recall correctly the SE manual goes on about simcards/ service providers which can have 2 lines into the mobile, therefore if your provider can do this you can have one with number withheld and the other exposed to the world.
I'd love to know if a UK service provider or any service provider actually provides this service.
Brings a whole new meaning to call waiting.

Well, I don't know about UK, but in Australia, apparently Optus has something along those lines. However, if you ask any of their support-monkeys (cue their TV ad) they will deny any knowledge of it till they're blue in the face.
I only know about it because we had one of the marketdroids about 10 months ago tell us about their "NEW! IMPROVED! SHINY!" product - i.e. a second number on the SIM, usable as "second line". The other thing is that the second number is not available as pre-paid, only contract/postpaid, but the options are quite open - I seem to remember having a contract starting at about $20/month and going up as "sky-is-the-limit".
Oh, and I guess that their support is quite legitimately denying any knowledge of it because it seems to be only available to corporate accounts, wich they don't deal with on current basis anyway.
Bottom line is, if you have a work-SIM on Optus in Australia, you may want to talk to your corporate account representative and ask about the second line on your SIM card. Don't bother asking the general support because they won't be able to tell you much.
