Good question mate!
In theory i would have thought that you would connect at 3g speeds, but as for using the free settings, i would guess that would be down to what phone you got and if you can alter the port number.
**edit**
Or i could be wrong lol - if i remember correctly on my phones you set an internet connection as gsm or gprs. 3g phones prob have an additional box for this. If no one has solved this by tonight i will look at my girlfriends v800 and let you know.

i dont think it will work - arn't the 3g sim cards different? wouldn't it be like using a non GPRS enabled sim in a GPRS phone and wondering why it doesn't work at GPRS speeds?

@mobman
yeah i know wot ur sayin but for the owners of the old genie sims,now they werent gprs sims,but all we had to do was ring up and get it gprs activated.....
has anyone switched there existing vodafone live to voda 3g?did u get a new sim card or keep ur exsisting one?
There is a point to this topic and it relies on proxys and port numbers and obviously a 3g handset....
has any1 got an unblocked 3 phone with a different networks sim card?
im debating if i should get the se v800 on vodafone gettin it unblocked and usin 02 freeness through it,but seein as no one seems to have delved into that as yet i shall keep debating to myself regarding this topic...
