Worldwide sale of handheld declined for the third year in a row, and it's going to decline further!
Consumers don't see the need to invest in pdas if a samrtphone can do the same basic tasks. Smartphones, with their increasing ability to provide Pda like functionality are clearly damaging the handheld devices market and sending vendors into scramble. A good example is Sony, killing off its CLIE handheld.

Mobile phone sales actually where very good last year, with new models coming out and many ppl upgrading their handsets.

You are right. It was announced recently by Sony that come this July, all Sony CLIE Pda line will be rest in peace.
