> K700i Losing Text messages

When my K700i gets 100% full of text messages it doesn't have a warning on the screen (as my P610 and T68 both did)... until someone tries to send me another message.
When this happens I get asked if I want to delete old messages to free up room for the new messages that are waiting, but after doing so the new messages don't come through (again, as they used to do on my P610 and T68).
I am using R2AC003 and don't have access to the equipment needed to update the firmware to see if that will fix it, but could send it off to be updated if it's definately a firmware issue.
Has anyone experienced similar issues?
