As far as I know, SE phones can only play wav files containing uncompressed PCM sound. However, wav files can be made of many many different sound compression algorithms data, like a-law, mu-law, G723, Truespeech, even mp3 etc. Each of those compressed wav files need a specific decoder to be played. And the decoders are not to be found in the SE phones. It is probably the same for the other brands.

hhmm.... it did worked with NOkia phones... wonder why SE doesnt have wav as a standard media for sound other than midi or mp3... the only way now is to convert wav to mp3..
