hey guys, im guessing my phone will have to go in for repair again soon so i wanna back up my contacts on my p800.... but the only way i can see to do that is one by one..... is there no way i can transfer all my contacts to my sim card rather than going through every single one of them?

Thanks!

I don't see an option on my P900 to do that either. I think it it one by one then.

You can send all contacts to a computer using cable, Infrared or bluetooth. It will be saved as "All.vcf" file in your PC. After your P800 is return, you can simply send it back and it will be automatically installed in your phone.

P910 has 'Send this folder' but I don't think P800 does, I can't really remember.

Best bet for P800 would be to use one of the several 3rd party contacts manager, take a look on my-symbian.com

hi guys. i know how to do this on p900. Contacts can be saved as contact.vcf on card & when u just touch that file it will give option whether to save all contacts & u get restored contacts as it was even if you have formatted c: drive.
1) go to contact-->contact manager -->do send as mms-->save contact.vcf as template
2) use file manager--> go to c drive-->documents-->mms --> mms templates --> select the one with contact.vcf--> move/copy to folder of your choice-->delete this mms template
3)now whenever your contacs are lost u can easily restore from the card
have a nice day

you could also do a normal backup and restore however the contacts will not re-appear but to get them back refer to the first post in this thread

I would recommend the vcf file method as its a lot simpler and quicker but its good to know other possibilities just in case

Or, use QuickContact. It has a contacts file backup and restore option that is perfect for what you intend to do. It maintains all category info etc, which you lose in a .vcf

and you can trial it to use this functionality (and reinstall it on your re-flashed phone if needed)

Maybe this will help you:

This product can export/import your contacts to/from a ".csv" file.

Hey guys, from what you are telling me its about backing up the contacts, but thats not what i want to do.

When my phone goes in for repair i shall have to use another phone, which is not a p800, so i wont be able to transfer the contacts. All i want is a simple way to transfer all my contacts to my sim card but there is no way to do that on the p800 other than one by one!

Stupid phone!

Can you not send the contacts to yourself as SMS? or MMS and then turn the phone off as soona s the message has gone, then open that on the new phone?
