> Risks of using SETool?
Bookmark topic
As my questions didn't get answered in another, now locked, topic I was wondering if anyone has experience modifying their phones f/w with SETool?
Its apparently possible to change message tones & remove things like startup/shutdown animations to make the phone boot up faster but I'd like to know how much danger there is of the user making the wrong modification & screwing up the phone?
Maybe they'd make it unable to boot up at all. Also IF this happened would they be able to repair the phone themselves with SETool? Maybe there's some sort of recovery?
Or are they stuck with a now void of warranty phone & no way back?

No risk at all!
If something goes wrong gbrooks won't rest until he solves the problem, or, if it's too much for him, someone in a higher level.
I killed my S700i, and i mean seeing a bright light at the end of the tunnel, almost no way back, but still, the_****r helped me in reanimating it.
Go for it. The support is THE BEST in this tool.
(hurrah for gbrooks and the_****r!

Thanks for the replies, good to hear there is good support like that.
I wasn't considering using it myself I was just wondering if people could make a mess of things & what they could do then.
I guess it is possible to make a mess of the phone then but its good that they'll help u repair it.
PS- Before a certain user jumps in, I'm not trying to find faults or anything, this is a simple & honest query after the thought occured to me.
