> My memory stick broke!
Bookmark topic
Hello all! Wondering if any of you can solve this mystery of mine?
A few days ago I was transferring some musci onto my 1gig memory stick duo using my p910i and dss-25. About half-way through an error appeared saying something along the lines of:
"An error has occured, please press ok to start over"
At which I promptly pressed ok and looked at my p910i which also said something along those lines.
However, when I ok'd it on my p910i, it locked up. So I went to turn it off but nothing would happen. So I removed the memory stick and took the battery out and re-inserted it. I then turned my phone back on and it was working fine. However, when I inserted the memory stick it locked the phone up again.
After numerous lock-ups I discovered that it was in fact my memory stick producing this error.
I then tried to format it on my newly acquired memory stick reader but everytime I inserted the memory stick it either didn't recognise the stick or locked that window up.
Now I can't format this stick with my P910i or my memory reader, I know it's the memory stick as my 128mb one works fine?
Is thier any way I can format this stick or get it working again? Anyone know why this has happend?

Can it be a bad sector?

sounds like a defective stick. if so, just ask the seller to replace it with a new one.

hmmm, maybe try emailing the manufacturer (sandisk or sony?) to see if they can replace it. it should have a lifetime warranty from the manufacturer so it shouldn't be a problem.
if it is a defective stick, it's unlikely that you will be able to do anything to resolve the problems you've encountered.

try scanning the memory with an application that identifies bad sectors. I had a 64MB compact flash once that created some problems but i managed to fix it with BadCopy Pro 3.75.

Thank you all for your replies
It's a sandisk by the way
I'll try to email them and ask if they can replace it. It was working as I had about 400mb filled before it went capoot.
What is this software you speak of that searches for bad sectors?
