The Infrared connection on my p900 has died ... It used to work when I tried it some months ago. Nothing particular has happened since then (no crashes, etc). What can I try to do?

Aside from Govigov's question about whether you've tested it or not, have you tried switching the phone off and on and turning IR on again? I suppose you did as these are usually the first things that you think of doing but just to make sure we cover all bases. Also, can you tell us more about your observation.
To my knowledge, it is quite uncommon to have your IR go bust.
