Well, totally don't understand this but suddenly bluetooth will not work (name of device is greyed out then when I select on or discoverable or any option the drop down list stays open and the cursor jumps up to the name of the device but I cannot change the name) also infared will not switch on, it will go through the menu's as if I have switched it on but no symbol will appear at the bottom... are all these p series devices so crap? I'm beginning to regret buying the thing. I'm suspecting the firmware is becoming corrupt, just as well I have a tornado flasher on it's way. Meanwhile does anyone know a fix for this or is it something I'm not doing? has this happened to anyone else?

3. i dont know whats up maybe ur not using the phone right or maybe the phone hates you as much as you hate it!
4. if your really having problems with your p800 take it to a placed called "sony ericsson repair center" and have the firmware upgraded!

LOL another highly technical answer. I don't need to take it to a "sony ericsson authorised service center" because I have the hardware on it's way to do the job myself.

1. If you don't like my comments don't post in my thread.

2. If you are that hung up on your phone, just remember it will be "crap" when you next upgrade and your loyalty will shift.

3. The phone cannot hate me as much as I hate it, for two reasons, first I do not hate it and second it is an inaminate object it doesn't have emotions.

4. Oh I think I know how to use phones, seeing as I am A qualified electronics technician and have repaired hundreds of phones.

5. Obviously this is a "kiddie's" forum along with most others out there A post like what's the bestist game in the world you have ever managed to play on your "phone" will attract lots of attention whereas a sensible thread asking something remotely technical will go ignored simply because no one knows the answer or has the knowledge to respond. And in turn we end up with logical threads deteriorating because some numbskull has nothing constructive to post (I will apologise now to any members that do not fit in with the above (or the below)).

Now you run along to the games section little boy, whilst I post in a forum that has members with more than one dead brain cell and the other on it's way

Hi jmpmjmpm

I remember this slight annoying problem in the P800, it sometimes happens if you have not realigned the screen, i.e the stylus is out when it hits the touch screen. I can only suggest you resync the screen again. I understand your frustration unfortunately the p800 is not software upgradeable like the p900 and p910. On a personal note I didn't use infra red a lot when I had it as I was starting to use bluetooth more. Unfortunately if you are trying to infra red to a palm then you are not going to be a happy bunny.
i was at a committee meeting tonight and offered to beam my vCard to a Palm and the palm wouldn't have it and the P910 didn't find it from 2 inches away. My understanding of the infra red specs is that they're more hit and miss than bluetooth.

Where did you get the p800 and is it new?

Oh and welcome to the forum

hi the_poet,

No I bought it second hand a few days ago, fancied a pdaphone for a while but not willing to pay several hundred pounds.(tried the awful lg handsets from three, wouldn't go there again!(i know they're not pda's but are pretty functional)) Don't get me wrong it's a nice little gadget and when that box arrives I should be able to update the firmware to the latest version. I figured out what the problem was though, dirt! I was sat there thinking when I remembered how the T68(i) used to play up when it had a little crud inside, and with this one being second hand I decided to take a look under the cover and yes it was pretty bad, a quick blast with an can of air duster though and it's working well again. I was trying to use infared because I have no cables or syncstation with this one (they're due to arrive any day). It's still a pretty sorry sight though as the previous owner neglected it somewhat, but it's gonna get a facelift any day when the parts arrive
