Why did SE bother to make phones that are sooooo similar? Are the falling into the Samsung line here?
They are nice phones, but I hardly see any important difference in terms of functionality between the K500 and the K300. The only differences I noted were:
-Weight
-Screen Size
-Screen resolution
I don't think those are adequate for them to have made an entirely different phone?
Unless I missed something...

Memory. They really needed a low end cam phone and the k500 is still thought to be at the mid segment. (at least i think so.) So they introduced the k300. But agreed. Not much functionality diff between the two.

What's the pricing of K300 anyway? If the price is far lower than K500/K508 I think SE wants to fill the low-end level market segment with the mid-level like features with decreasing some items such as screen type, size and resolution.
This is not a bad idea any anyway.
What I wonder is, why SE always takes so many times to really launch its products since its announcement while Nokia takes only days or weeks?
Till March 1st, 2005, SE has announced 6 new phones (J300, K300, K600, K750, Z800, W800) and only K300 that's already actually launched in the market.
In other side, Nokia has also announced some new phones and these phones will be available in the market soon.
I can't hardly wait for W800...
