> Missing CDA number in K700i firmware?
Bookmark topic
Hi, I'm a new user and not so proud owner of a K700i. Bought in Dubai Dec2005 while on holiday. It worked well for the first couple of days then started having problems. Most of my incoming calls were going straight to my voicemail without the phone ever ringing. Only found this out from "missed call" messages. For the few calls which did ring, there was a lag before I could hear the person at the other end. Also, when I made calls, it took a while before the phone connected when actually the person at the other end had already taken the call. By the time, the K700i got through, the person at the other had hung up. My wife was not amused!! She told me that she kept saying hello and nobody was replying - that's because at my end, the K700i was still ringing.
I tried everything in the manual without success. Only ended up deleting all ringtones and games which came with the phone when I did a master reset.
I eventually came across this site and learned that a lot of the problems with K700i was solved with a firmware upgrade. I had to wait until I was on a business trip in Paris where the firmware was upgraded for free at the SE service centre (upgraded from R2L001 to R2AE033). All problems solved until I got back home a few days later. Old problems are back again. Plus I kept getting the same SMS message being delivered several times a day. In the end, I had to retire the K700i and revert back to my trusty CMD-J70. I did not give up though and have tried contacting SE but they could not help because there is no service centre in my country.
Tried to see if there was a new firmware on the SE site. So I hooked up my brand new DSS25 and went through the download process. Guess what? Could not continue with the download because I got a message saying that my operator does not permit the firmware update. This was really a shock to me because the phone I have is unbranded. So I tried looking further and compared the details in the software info with those I have seen on this site.
I noticed that in the customization section, there is no CDA number (in all the threads I have looked at there is either CDA102286 or something else), and asked myself whether this could have anything to do with the problems I was having.
The actual software info detail is as follows:
R2AE033
prgCXC 125821_EU_1_C
LCD SW versions
Main display
Current: 200406041
Camera SW versions
Camera
Current: 3.10
ITP SW version
CXC 125 813 R2C
Customization
cxc 125822 R2AE033
EMEA_6
I have tried searching this site but I do not think I have come across anybody posting similar problems. I would be grateful for any help or comments you can contribute. Thanks

where in paris did you get your phone flashed..or upgraded to the R2AE software...! If you got it done at SE service center chances are that you might have recieved an country specific firmware..I suggest you buy some SE tool credits and re-load the software from SE tools using your DSS-25, Maybe the last time the firmware was upgraded it was missing a few files that are reverting the problem..! Re-Load the software again..!
regards

Are you on O2 by any chance? That might be the reason for your 'multiple SMS' problem.
What happens if you try and flash your phone with the software online of the SE site?

Hey guys. Thanks for yr replies.
I had the phone flashed at Easy Repair in Paris (SE service centre). I remember the supervisor telling the guy doing the flash to use EMEA_6. I suppose this is the language but I can use any language as long as there is English. Will try reflashing. I will be in UK in 2weeks time - do you know where I can have it done?
I am not on O2 - phone is not branded.

Hey Vlammetje - I did try reflashing online at the SE site. Could not continue with the flash because I got a message saying that my operator did not permit the upgrade. Like I said, my phone is not branded so what gives? Have seen that other users had similar CDA- related problems.

hello there. i have a k700i bought through movistar (spanish company) and i canīt upgrade to the new firmware using SE internet service because it says that my operator doesnīt allow this kind of service.
I unlocked the phone using one credit with davinci (10) but still couldnīt upgrade the firmware. does anyone now what should i do? should i flash the phone using davinci and getting the files from them?
i have also read in this forum that somebody posted the files so i just should attached those files to davinci to flash the phone with the new firmware... will i lost information on my phone? will i need to buy more credits? does anyone sell more credits for davinci cheaper than the one i bought (19)?
thanks for your help
