Hi
Can anyone advise me which Anti-virus software is best to run with a P910i (PC Suite 3.2.0/ Windows2000)
a) Symantec?
b) McAfee AntiVirus v9 (Professional?)?

Before you spend any money on software, read AllAboutSymbian's review. It states that there has not been any risk of p900/p910 recieving any malware through anything other than warez. Stay away from the warez and you'll be OK. It looks like there's a little scaremongering going on.

I don't really understand what you mean, neither of them check for UIQ threats for the simple reason that:
A. There aren't any yet. There's a handfull for symbian 60 series but none of those pose any significant threat
B. Neither of those apps are earmarked to protect against threats to mobiles anyway.
If you mean which one works best with your PC and sync software, then symantec beats Mcafee every time. Put it this way, I run a PC repair shop and whenever I see Mcafee on a machine, the first thing I do is uninstall it (seriously!)
The standalone firewall isn't too bad but the antivirus and internet security suite are a bloody nightmare, cause no end of problems.

I never had any problem with Mcafee nor symantec. Both work fine without problems but the best antivirus I've purchased and used is the trend micro pccillin internet security 2005.

Mcafee Internet Security is fine if you know what you're doing and you're PC has the same specification as IBM's latest supercomputer
It has this 'usefull' little BHO blocker that works fine until you want to change your homepage in IE or set up a new pop3 account in Outlook or OE, at which point you have to disable it altogether because it keeps changing all of the settings back to whatever they were when you installed it!
It also has a 'handy' little utility that stops you from clicking on links in your email client. All of this would be ok were it not for the fact that the Mcafee settings menus appear to have been designed an alcoholic monkey with learning difficulties which makes it very difficult for the non-technical user to turn all of this crap off!
It's big, it's bulky, it's overly paranoid and it certainly aint clever!
I'm with Govi on this one, AVG 7.0 is fine for most users. It's very light, very unobtrusive, it works well and it's free

Either of them
No antivirus software should interfere with the running of the sync software, and neither should a firewall really since you'll be syncing via USB, IR or Bluetooth.
But I'd use Norton if I were you

I got to try mcafe internet security. And its menu's after hearing from cycovision. I installed mcafe antivirus, once in my pc. It stayed there for 2 hours before i uninstall'd it. Damn stupid prog. Now, i'm using AVG, microsoft adware and spy doctor. Keeps most of the bloody things at bay. Hehe, may i should put in mcafe internet security to get a full line up. What do you think cyco?

@govi
sooner you than me mate
Sounds like your computers' pretty well looked after as it is, don't install mcafee on it unless it's done something to upset you, the poor thing just hasn't done anything to deserve it
