Using cellphone's (SE K700i) GPRS to browse the internet on a PC (laptop) using bluetooth.

The user manual indicates that this is possible (p67 English), but gives no instructions on how to do it...

I want to make a GPRS connection with my cellphone and then allow the PC to connect to the cellphone via bluetooth to browse the internet.

None of the bluetooth installed services seem to allow for this, would I use a serial connection, LAN connection or what?

I already have GPRS working on the cellphone and bluetooth working on both cellphone and PC. Just need to know how to do the internet thing.

I'm not sure of how to do it with bluetooth, but with ir i can browse the net using the pc, using my phone as a gprs modem. This message was posted from a K500

The comunication suite brings an app called "Dial up Networking Wizard" maybe in the version you have could be with diferent name but similar... You need the settings from your operator. Is so easy to setup! give a try!
Ahhh one tip: when you are going to dial up from you pc, first you must conect your phone to your pc via bluetooth to a serial port... I hope you know how to do it, just right click in bluetooth icon next to the clock and from this opcions select "conect to serial port" this may be diferent, depends on the software you are using...

Create a new dial up connection. There should be a dialup code which you can get from your operator. Enter that as the dialup number for the connection. Configure the connection to use the phone as the modem. You should be good to go. And ensure you have web access through your provider. If you are on vanilla wap access this may not work. Thanks for the replies, another question.

To be clear: I want to connect to the internet through my K700 using GPRS and browse on my laptop.
The laptop has windows 98 with WIDCOMM bluetooth software.

I clicked on dial-up networking on the laptop and it made a bluetooth connection with the K700.

Next question. How do I get the PC to browse?
Can I use Window Internet Explorer and how do I configure it?

@sig...have you entered the dialup code from your operator as the dialup number in the new connection. If you've already dne that, just double click the connection and then click dial.
Once it gives you the connected icon in the system tray, open a browser window and click away...you're online.
Simple, aint it?

Just having troubles getting MS Internet Explorer to recognise the connection.
On that PC I have a normal dial-up account and now my bluetooth GPRS modem.
How do get IE to use the bluetooth modem?
And can you recommend a good browser for wap sites?

In IE...click internet options & ensure that u are connecting thru the new diaup connection you created. Thats it. If you have entered the right dialup codes for the connection, it shold work like a charm

Make sure you've installed the K700 modem drivers.
Use the software on the SE CD (PC Suite) to create a new dial up connection.
Choose GPRS modem.

If you want to do it yourself, you need to get the GPRS number from your operator. For me on Orange UK, it is *99***3#. I think you'll also need to choose the right COM port, and so on. Easier to do it with the setup wizard on the CD.

After that's done, you just double click the dial-up icon like you would normally (after you've established the bluetooth link), and your phone should connect you via GPRS.

Hope you're well-off, it costs a fortune!

I used the bluetooth software that came with my bluetooth USB adaptor and created a dialup link using the 'bluetooth modem'. The dialup part works fine. The PC connects to the modem and the two little computers appear in the system tray, double clicking on them brings up a window saying that a dialup connection has been made.

So I have that part sorted out.

Problem is getting IE to use that dialup connection.

I have a normal dialup connection on that PC as well as this new bluetooth one.
I then go to tools/internet options/connection in IE and click on the bluetooth connection then OK.
When I try to access a website by typing in say www.google.com, nothing happens then about 30 secs later the IE screen comes up saying it can't find the server or dns server!!!!!!!
