I've bought plenty of 3rd party apps for the symbian phones i've owned: nokia7650, p900 and now a p910i. I never minded paying for the apps as i believe i play my part in support of the industry.
I had to have 3 replacement p900 handsets and now i've upgraded to a p910, what happens to all the software you've purchased?
Initially I bought most of my apps from SYMBOS UK, however when it came to requesting new codes I was completely ignored, sending about 15 requests. I had some success contacting each 3rd party seperately but there are a couple of companies that refuse to help.
For the last 2 years I have bought all my software from Handango and after a month the new codes are starting to arrive.
One, "PhotoProfessional" from Nice Valley refuse to issue me with a new code, insisting that I buy a new license (30dollars!). The email I recieved from them was really offensive, customer support? pah!
It's not that I want to launch a hate campaign against them, rather If you're going to fork out 30dollars for an app, you need to know that if your phone has to be replaced or if you upgrade, you may wish to stick to apps that you'll still be able to use. (Bitween's Photo Editor, for example). I paid 30dollars to use PhotoPro on my p900 for two months!

It happened to me when I upgraded to my P910 from 900...
I sent an e-mail to lonleycat regarding my smartmovie, they took a while to reply so I bought it again anyway only to discover that they were going to give me a new key... nevermind.
A few of the apps worked on my P910 anyway i.e strategic assault.
Thats just the way the cookie crumbles im afraid.

ouch, paid when you didn't need to!
I understand Nice Valley's point, If I buy MSOffice and install it on my pc that doesn't mean that every pc I ever own should get MSOffice for free.
However it's a bit damning if out of about 17 other applications, Nice Valley is the only one to be pedantic about it. With a little luck, Handango will figure it out, then I can send them my new unlock code and rub their collective noses in it.
Not that I'm in any way vindictive!
