Right Guys (& Girls) lets see if we can solve this one.
I have a problem whereby after typing a txt msg, selecting phone book gives me a "No info availble" msg (actually it now shows the first entry in the address book), thus preventing me from sending txt's to anyone except in the recent history list; but alll my contacts are there.
Sent email to Sony Ericsson who said need to upgrade firmware, either send off or use DSS-25.
So received DSS-25 in post today from ebay and after a bit of fiddling with drivers etc managed to get it installed........except after installing ver 1.18 of the update client the java applet then tells me that my operator does not permit this operation.
My K700i is a branded Orange UK, which I got unlocked and now has a vodafone sim in it. I put it on the DSS the first time with no sim and the second time with my vodafone sim in it, same answer. Should I have a sim in it when it goes into the cradle for upgrading?, if so, should i borrow a contract Orange or O2 sim, would this make any difference. If I put an O2 sim in will it automatically upgrade it with the O2 branded software.
My firmware version is R2Y005.
Oh and I also did a master reset, but that didnt change anything.
Please help.

Unfortunately I am in Belfast, Northern Ireland and I dont think there are any. Plus i think the whole, unlocked orange thing might complicate matters.....
Is this just a case of SE not supporting Orange or something else????

What I'd recommend seeing as you don't have any centre near by and you now have a DSS-25 is to use something like
DaVinci Team. Although in theory this will void your warranty, it will completely unbrand your handset (no Vodafone branding - as if you have bought the phone from SE) and update your firmware to the latest. If you PM a member on this forum called
619, he can sell you some credits (not expensive) and perhaps even give you a bit of advise.

Hi
I also have an update issue. I tried using my T28 cable, and now the phone is dead.
I live in Warrington, does anyone know if there is a SE service centre nearby?
Thanks
