Hi everyone, recently I had a terrible accident with my P900. To my horror, I lost it on the floor, and then it slipped outside a fence, falling 4 meters down on a hard surface. I thought to myself at the moment, ok thats it for my beloved P900. Went down to collect the parts of it, apparently, only the battery, stylus and the batterycover had come off it, otherwise the rest was in one peice. My insurance did not cover it, because it was a so called 'self-inflicted accident' how stupid does not that sound...
Nevertheless, I looked at it more closely, and found that the outer screen was in one peice, and it had only two big scrapmarks on the top, and some at the keypads. I then tried to turn it on again, the backlight turned on, but I saw that the inner screen was broke, like broken glass with interesting (frustrating and incorrect!!) colorings. Of course I could not see anything on the display, and I heard no boot-sound (maybe because I had it on silent mode before it fell), and after 10 seconds or so it shut down again. However it vibrated a bit like it does when being turned on, and the keypad lighted up.
So my question remains, could my P900 have survived this? Do you think it could work if I get the service center to fit a new screen into it? Or is this kind of gravityforce-damage of falling 4 meters down on a hard surface in any case too much for it to be repairable?
Please give me some input here, as I would much rather spend $200 on a new screen (thats what it costs here) than a regular new boring phone.
Thanks in advance, and for you that still have an operating P900/905/910; take good care of it; and dont drop it 4 meters!!

At the moment it fell; yes I was kind of in the state you are in when something extreme is about to happen, like time slows down. Heh, about the 4 months to post, I had to register to view some of the images on the forum so thats the reason. I am mostly to lazy to engage in a conversation here, but now I'm in the game.
But anyone, please give me some input on whether you think it could have survived. thanks

well its certainly possible for it to have survived, but then again you will never know unless you either replace the screen or take it to a repair center.
I would suggest the reapair center option, because it will only cost a small amount to get it inspected, then you will know if it fixable.

it is possible that it could have survived as a far as
all the circutry it is probably intact

has a 150 dollar service fee so it might be cheaper to
give it to them
in my semi-proffesional opinion all that could have broken is the screen
as long as all the solder points staied intact on the circut board

Hopefully it should be fine after new screen's installed. If you can, try powering it up (with a full battery), and try making and/or recieving a call with it. If it can do that, you may be OK after a replacement screen's been fitted. I've fixed the odd phone up, and have fixed phones that have been chewed by dogs and all sorts!

Seems tight that the insurance wont cover it. Every insurance i have taken and been offered on every phone has always covered accidental damage.
Insurance companys can be right Ass Holes.
