guys
I badly need help out here. I live in the Philippines and I just bought an SE T226 which I just found out that it is locked to AT&T (labeled in the box). I bought the phone since I will be moving to Canada soon. Now, I have been searching the net to look for the unlock codes for the service provider of my cell but to no avail. Then I came across to this shop who told me that they could unlock it and do the job. they are charging me 300 bucks for that.
Now my question is how could I know or verify it if the phone is really unlocked and already openline. I cannot just simply insert a new SIM and check if it is already working since the cell has an incompatible frequency band with the service providers here in the philippines.
(SE T226 - 800/1900 frequency, Philippines uses 900/1800 frequency)
Thanks in advance for the help

You should have bought the bell once you have reached canada, and not bought it from philipines. Yes you can check if the phone is unlocked or not in the service menu or network menu. Since i'm too lazy to tell you how to access these menu's, (diff on wap) the next person here may do it for you.

Its easy to tell if the phone is locked because it'll say INVALID SIM when you try a different operators SIM card.
From the service menu look at the network locks too

Service menu: From the standby screen, press right * left left * left *. But can you get to the standby screen in the first place?

I have already entered the service menu, then I went to the Srervice Info. From the Service Info, I proceeded to the SIM Lock. It goes like this:
>* Service Menu
Service Info
SIM Lock
Network "unlock"5
Network Subset "unlock"5
Service Provider "unlock"5
Corporate "unlock"5
Note: The "unlock" is an icon of an opened padlock
Now, from the description of the items on the SIM Lock does this mean that my cellphone is unlock to any service providers?
