I have similar problems, but this works for me:
Instead of launching the AOL browser to connect the first PC to the internet, go to 'start' - 'Connect to' and click on the connection that your router created when you installed it. The phone number should be '0,38', the username should be your full AOL email address and the password is, surprise surprise, the password for that account. If it won't connect, try using the master AOL screenname and password for your AOL account.
Then, Open the AOL browser on both machines and set up a new location called 'network'. Manually configure the location to connect via LAN instead of 'AOL dial-up broadband connection'. Then, when you sign on to AOL, the AOL browser doesn't dial it's own connection, it uses the one you've already started.
For some reason, Windows internet connection sharing doesn't like using the connection that the AOL browser establishes on it's own once you've run the network wizard.
Likewise, the second PC should be able to dial-up the master account name without your PC being switched on, assuming that it doesn't just connect via LAN after you've altered the location setting on it (as ablove)

err you didnt need to do an internet connection share between the 2 pc's.
in set up small network you should click OTHER then go to my computer connects to the net using a HUB and do the same with the other pc and your done you will have both pc's network and still connect when one is off.
the set-up u have done made one Pc act as a server and that was your problem

Netgear DG834 problems with Aol connection, have just dissapeared!! as with most of you folks though not without a lot of research and heartache. anyway the three things that I changed were: ensuring that your login password ( at PPoA Settings) is definately no more than 8 charachters also WAn settings) under 'Advanced' heading were changed from the default 1458 to 1400 The third and final change was to delete all old network connections. and it was as simple as that. Hope this is of help to someone out there.

Okay, as we're talking about this router...
I have a problem where on my wireless computer any file uploaded through FTP over 16,384 bytes gets cut down to that size. This accounts for my bad zip files and chopped down pages a week or so ago. Fortunatly I can upload fine through the computer wired straight in, although I don't usually have access to that.
Any suggestions? Upgraded from the firmware 1.05.00 to the newest beta version btw, didn't make any difference.
