Having bought a DSS-20 to go with my phone, I was less than impressed to find that Vodafone do not allow the use of the SE Web Update Service! What is their problem? It won't remove their precious branding crud, it'll only allow an update to the latest firmware for your supplier, so why not let people use it?

Welcome to the World of Voda!
Its all to do with Money. They want you to purchase everything from them.
When you come to renew just say no and when they ask tell them.
It has been mentioned many times before on here and there are still no defined answers.
You can remove all the branding, there is plenty of mention on here of where to go and how to do it, but the other thing is shout and stamp your feet with voda. Otherwise than that there nothing more you can do.
Sorry

There is no updated Voda f/w hence why you can't use the update service, the SE f/w would remove the Voda branding.
You can unbrand your phone with the SyncStation and one of the several unbranding services you will find if you search

using the SE update service does not loose any of the branding. The update service only updates the firmware hat has been approved by your network.
Vodafone does not approve of the service and this has been on going for some months now.
Orange do and have done for a few months.
02 Have had to give in to public demand and also due to the K700i being incompatible with there network.
T-Mobile used to but pass why not now.

You can take your phone into CPW or a SE for the software to be updated but thats it. This again you will not loose any of your branding.
The only way to do this is to reflash your phone yourself with the latest software for the phone (Unbranded) This also doesnt invalidate your warranty.
Hope this helps

Can anyone recommend a good place to get my phone unbranded in the Liverpool area? I'd rather take it somewhere than try it myself!
