> P910a + HBH-660 backlight problem

The backlight on my HBH-660 headset won't light when a call comes in on my P910a, although it works correctly when I pair it with a T610. Does anyone else have this problem?

I have the same problem but have never tried it with a different phone. It actually illuminates for a second then goes dim, certainly not long enough to read the display! Thought this was odd and nothing in the manual about controlling this backlight.

Yes you're right, it actually does turn on for a few milliseconds. Not nearly long enough to read what's on the display.

Update: My brother's HBH-660 works correctly with my phone, and my HBH-660 works correctly with his Treo 650, and another friends T610. By connecting it to the T610 I can see that mine has revision R1D firmware. I haven't checked my brother's yet, but maybe this is something that can be fixed with updated headset firmware.

Interesting! Will be curious to see what REV your Bro has...I just upgraded my phone firmware to R4A11 and still no change from that angle so you might have the answer.

UPDATE: I called SE and they said once I fax in proof of purchase they will contact me within 24hrs to arrange exchange of the unit. I asked about just upgrading the firmware and at present they are not offering any updates for this unit.

My brother's HBH-660 has firmware version R1C, mine has R1D, even though both of our boxes were marked R1A. I was expecting his to be newer, but oh well. I'm sending mine back today too. Maybe the next one will work better.

SE just had me read the "date code" off the back of the unit, my firmware is R1A and the code under that is 04W51 which means it was manufactured in 2004, week 51. That was the way they validated the unit was still under warranty since my proof of purchase (POP) was not acceptable to them (it was a internet receipt and I could of requested something more official).
What is the date code for yours and your brothers as it seems logical by the firmware revision your brothers is older?
