Hi people,

I have recently purchased a data cable and it's working fine. The thing is that the transfers are really slow. It takes about 45 mins to transfer a 5mb mp3 file! Anyone elses this slow?
Anyway I can make this faster????

cableconnections are very slow because they use seriel emulation.
max speed is that of a 56kbps modem.

fastest is bluetooth with 22-30kb/s

I think cable connection can only deliver 9600 bits per second (bps) or about 1.2 Kilobytes per second (kBps). I get an average of 25 kilobytes per second (kBps) with my BT connection.

The cable will limit itself to 9600, if you don't change its port settings in the device manager.

i have a related question.
if you are using a phone with a memory card, would it be quicker to use a card reader to transfer files instead of the phone's USB cable?

I think it depends on the card reader specs but in most cases a USB card reader is faster as it optimizes USB speed, so the limiting factor is the speed of the memory card itself.

For small files however I'd rather just transfer it via cable, the difference won't be very significant.

Going back to the original question first of all set the cable speed to whatever is the max value available and secondly dont use se file manager...its painfully slow, instead get a software called dataimanager(hopefully someone will write down the url coz i dont remember) which will give you approx 8kBps vis-a-vis the 1-2kBps you get with se file manager.
