> Few questions about V800 / V802…
Bookmark topic
Well actually I was dreaming about Haier P7, but when I got one for 10 minutes I decided not to go for it. Now I have finally chosen Panasonic X800, but Chinese cargo doesn’t work so I can’t order it now. And suddenly an amazing opportunity appears. I can buy SE V802 fro 500 USD, for Russia it is pretty good price. But the most important thing is – it has Japanese support, and Japanese symbols on the keyboard, what is very important for me coz I do study Japanese and I always dreamed about real Japanese kei-tai. Here go my questions:
What are main differences between V800 and V802?
Is V802 worth 500 USD? Or it is already a history?
For V802 users – isn’t it too big?
What about mp3 support for ringtones and caller id on external screen, will I get it only after software upgrade? If I do upgrade what will happen with Japanese language support?
Just what do you think?

Allrite, hope to answer ur question.
Main difference between V800 and 802SE is a Europe Model and a Japan Model. Keypad also a bit different, firmware also a bit different as well. V800 doesn't have Japanese languange input or output but 802SE does.
US$500 still ok or bit high actually. Depends how u think. Mostly ppl nowadays get this phone and change the firmware to Z800 and change cover... Once again, I still think allrite.
802SE is big? Erm, how about 902SH from Sharp?
And lastly, i'm not sure about the Japanese Firmware. Currently I heard that you could update the firmware in Sony Ericsson Update Service using USB cable in order to get the external caller Picture ID. So, mp3 seem is no no on Japanese model, even u use the DRM settings. Try to possible to flash to Z800 and hope to get the Japanese Language, then u will be very very happy about the process.

First things first.
1) If you don;t know if there is even Z800 firmware with japanese language don;t flash
2) If you're getting V802 which is already japanese and you want it in japanese then you don;t need to flash at all
3) US 500 for an unlocked phone off contract isn't too bad, but considering the branded firmware it might be considered a bit steep. Once again, since I do not know if there even exists a Japanese non-branded version, you may not have an aletrnative anyway.
4) It's fairly big when compared with non-3G phones but it's not too big imho, certainly not when compared with certain other 3G phones. However if there is no 3G coverage in your area I wouldn;t consider buying it.

"So, mp3 seem is no no on Japanese model, even u use the DRM settings." what does it mean? SE V802 doesn't support mp3 at all or only as ringtones?
thank you.

ori,
mp3 ringtones can be download in Japan countries, that's for 802SE..
but if u put MP3 only, u could listen the songs but u can't deal with the ringtones.. That's it....
Even u use DRM for Mp3 protection, (maybe u need to investigate the protection for Japan firmware 802SE ) you cannot set as ringtones for 802SE.
Hope it is right..
