> HBH-30 poor range of work
Bookmark topic
I've noticed the poor range of work of this headset.
Not more than 4-5 meters.
Even if I have it on my right ear and keep the phone near to my left side the call is very noisy and at last it lost the signal!!!
Total object between phone and headset: my body.
Total distance: my body... about 60cm (24")
Is a bluetooth spec?
Is my HBH-30 broken?
It's quite a shame.

Have your phone's SW upgraded... you're using an older SW version that has been known to be faulty with BT reception.

i believe the hbh-30 uses the same chipset/antennae as the hbh-15, thus the performance is similar (my hbh-15 has similar range as you described). i doubt if the firmware can improve the range (it can improve other areas like pairing, etc) since range is a hardware factor. my anycom cf card suffers from the same problem even if it was recently upgraded with version 2 drivers. the msi bluetooth key is a different story though, since it works leaps and bounds (as far as distance is concerned) on the same phone. the other factor to consider is the power consumption, as both the headsets and Anycom cards uses very low power.
just my observation.

I had similar behaviour of my hbh-10. Now I own a hbh-30 and again similar results: distortion when wearing phone left and headset on right-side of your body.
My solution: try to wear the phone on the same side as your headset.

i use a HBH-20 before and when your body is between the phone and the headset, the reception can drop till 1 to 2 meters.
so it is not the phone fault.
There's a tweak in the words when ppl is marketing Bluetooth. The 10meter range is appicable when y ou are in a of 10m radius area with no object/obstalce.
when you have a lot of things in certain area, the range will drop. Cubicle in our office is part of the obstacle.
Only those bluetooth adapter/ base station tht is using higher power consumption can provide better reception.
Still I prefer HBH-15 or 30 because the chances for our body to be an obstacle is less than those in HBH-20.

I have a T39 and HBH-30 and just sent it to service because of cracked sound+short range.
Since the sound is digitally transferred it is very important to have matching protocols. If not it will be quiet or very bad sound. Error correction will also not work. In the box it was a separate paper recommending to upgrade even the very new T68i for better performance. Read the papers guys...

I already have the latest software = R2E006. I saw the leaflet too.
Still, I have problems with the radius (or: RF-power of the headset):
My phone sits in a holster on my belt on the right side...
my HBH-30 is wrapped around my right ear....
but still I get digital distortions if I put my right arm above the phone...
However, now that I now this, it is not a big problem. I can live with it.
