Technology is moving quicker than I thought. Just when you think SE is taking the lead in cam phones, along comes Samsung with a 5.2 MP phone. Slightly longer than the S700 the SPH-V7800 is the Mac Daddy of cam phones.

Will SE produce a 5.2 MP cam phone? The competition in the cell phone industry is exteremely aggressive.

I don't think people should start throwing their conventional digital cameras in the dustbin just yet. Samsung's digital cameras don't have a good reputation. This message was posted from a T68i

You mean when will they make a 5 MP cam phone (I hardly think SE has stopped the development). Probably, when they can fit 5 MP technology in a phone like K750 (the Samsung is a bit to big to carry around all day long).

I think however, they will start with 3 MP first. Afterall, unless you plan to print big picture even 2 MP is good enough as a vacation cam if it has decent optics (like K750 seem to have).

The more pixels you have, the larger the prints you can print. Consider the following table, and the answer becomes obvious:

2 MP -> Print size 4x6 in.
3 MP -> Print size 8x10 in.
4 MP -> Print size 11x14 in

But Samsung also have a 7mp cameraphone in development, so even thought the K750 is 2mp, and the Samsung is 5mp, there'll always be something better just around the corner.

Be happy with what is available now, dont hang on for something thats years away.

okay i agree maybe samsung's camera reputation is not good...i agree...maybe its just ok with 2mpx cam..ok...but c'mon.. BRING THE OPTICAL ZOOM!...i would really like to have digital zoom on my cellphone...imagine SPH-V7800 is just 2 mpx cam ...but with optical zoom..it still beats k750 2mpx cam

SE and everyone else are just milking the market (small advances over time, hoping each small incremental advance will make people buy). The truth is they could have made a 7 megapixel camera phone if they were bothered but they're hoping to make people get a 1mp first, then 2mp, 3mp etc. Samsung seem to have noticed an opening in the market created by this market greediness and all credit to them.
