Ok i've recently purchased a NK3230 and i'm actually quite happy with it. But it's orange branded...
Now i've read on the Net you need to buy some sort of box to flash a nokia and they cost in the region of £300-£400 so that option is outta the window.CPW didn't really want to do it because it's a contract phone. So i was wondering where this leaves me...

The only thing i'm not all that happy about with the branding is the god damn stupid Orange homescreen. It seems that all new orange phones are getting it!(Well i've seen it on K700, D500, and now the 3230).
I've worked out a way of hiding it(hold the menu key and select "phone" and it looks like a normal s60 nokia again, until you enter and leave the menus then you have to do it again). But i was wondering if anyone out there had found a way of hacking it or summat to get rid of it once and for all....?
If anyone else has the same problem or know how to fix it let me know!!

Cheers,
Burgaz

I hope I don't get into trouble for plugging this, but over onSE-NSE they do an unbranding service, not sure if they do Nokias, but you can enquire about it. There's a special offer on at the mo, debranding done for a fiver, half price!

Not as yet... But i dropped my 3230 in a glass of water the other day( i swear it was an accident) so things have been delayed. But as soon as i get my new one i'm back on the case. I've been quoted £15 by
se-nse for nokia debranding. Think that's the way i'll be going as soon as i've got my new one!
I was hoping for a simple crack or something to remove it but no... Apparently you have to have the phone flashed to generic firmware. So that's what i'm gonna do! (and yes i did look into doing the flashing myself but the nokia flash boxes are around 300-500 euros!!!!)

it really sucks. I keep getting an 'Out of memory error'which stops me from taking pics. The one thing that comes from it is that there's no RAM left to load the homescreen when you return to the menu, so the sweet big digi numbers are on the screen.

Did you notice that the resolution that homescreen uses is different from the symbian OS res. The hs seems to use a lower setting than specified by nokia online, so pics look much more blurred on the desktop. Annoying that the pic changes size when in phone mode.

ho hum.... nice chatting mail me when you have any luck with flashingthe phone. best wishes - tara.

Strong - might go to enjoy the Six nations celebrations in Mill stad today, cymru am byth
