> anyway to unlock a barred phone?

im asking because one of my friends has been given a barred v800, yes i think it was stolen but he would like to know if there is anyway it can be unlocked to that it works?

The simple answer is don't try and mess with a barred phone. It's barred for a reason. Flashing will not help.

3 years ago i had a phone that was locked to some network, think it was orange, and when i tried to use it with my sim, the phone got blocked. i took it for flashing and it worked, so it CAN be fixed. i don't advise you doing that because they can locate you if you use the phone, and you will get charged just as if you stole it.

If a phone is barred, its classed as stolen, even if the owner reported it lost. You can be charged with handling stolen goods. If the police prove that you had the service done, you're looking at time in jail.
Basically, its not worth the risk. Buy your own phone, not someone elses.

No chance.
The majority of stolen mobile phones in the UK end up in third world countries which have no IMEI barring, or any other country that differ how they bar phones. Thats why its such a high profit business, the people in those countries can buy cheap phones that come from the UK, when normally they'd have to work a year or two just to afford one otherwise.
