> Sony Ericsson V800 on a normal network?
Bookmark topic
Hi there, Im back!!
Not that anyone will know who I am!
I really like the Sony Ericsson V800. But I really really really can't stand 3G. In fact I plan to serimoniously mallet and then burn my LG phone when I get a new one; whilst repeating the words "welcome to three how can I help you".
So can I use the V800 on a normal network and if so how?? Where's the best place to buy (and please dont send me your own links unless you are genuinely cheaper, I do have eyes and a mouse to search with)

You can use the V800 on a 2(.5)G network all the same (locked or unlocked) however not all firmwares have the option to switch 3G off so you may need to update the firmware (SEUS should do) or move to an area without 3G coverage

Think of 'firmware' as the operating system of your phone
Much like wondows, it can be upgraded at irregular intervals and sometimes it's buggy and sometimes it's not
The Vodafone V800 software that my V800 came with (R1D003) did not offer an option to switch off 3G completely (and ate all my battery
)
My upgrade R1J also didn't, but strange enough a friends upgrade to R1J did allow her to switch off 3G totally and completely
(and extend the battery life with days!)
So you may wanna check on that and get the right 'OS' on, but then you should be good to go
Presumably the same applies to LG but I have no idea how to do it or what features you might add/lose in the process.

That is sony ericssons support site that you can use to update the phone.
The phone comes with the cable that you can use to update the software for the phone.
Hope this helps!!!

Its an absolute disgrace. LG arent even advertising there faulty 8110 and offer no upgrades. 3 website shows an award for network of the year!!!!!!!! what!!!!!!!!!!!! b**********s
Im sick of this network, they really deserve to be out of business. If i told you that I was selling lemonade but had no lemons you wouldnt want to drink my lemonade........ so to speak...
