> s700i cant ring out or accept calls

Just bought a brand new sony ericsson s700i with vodafone. I cant receive or make calls or texts. It says network problem and i have a phone with an x next to it. I have tried the master reset. I can accept calls from all callers in the settings. I managed to send 1 text and then it stopped working. I have a good signal strength.
any ideas?

Is the phone on a new account? if it is then vodafone probably not set up your account properly yet. if it doesnt work tomorrow then take it back.

new contract this afternoon. wife bought a samsung at the same time and shes well away. my sim card works in her phone.
