They do seem a bit hit & miss. Mine never works first time, I need to disconnect the USB cable then reconnect it before putting the phone on the dock. Then it seems to work every time.

Sometimes my XP also refuses to find the phone.
I mean, the icon show communications going on, but no Phone icon appears. I have to reboot to make it work again.

This seems to be caused by a few reasons I've identified:

1. After starting Windows, I need to unlock phone and put it back in the cradle. After a few secs the Phone icon appears.
2. I removed the phone without checking if the communications icon was stopped (it probably wasn't). This situation only recovers after a reboot.
3. Last night my firewall (for the first time) gave me a warning saying the service was trying to access the internet (???). After I gave permission, it recognized the Phone.

I hope this helps.

Hey that's wierd that thread just popped up now...
I just had a Windows update that crashed my computer yesterday updating Nvidia sound driver on Mobo. I used system restore to go back to old drivers and found the phone (P900 Orange) would not connect to the PC. I spent ages messing about with it, connecting/ disconnecting, reinstalled SE connection suite etc and no go.
Having read your comments I turn off phone and turn back on - reconnect and bingo we are all happy bunnies again...

Thanks

Mick

the sync software is a bit "buggy" i also never seem to get a connection from the first time. I have to remove and replace the p800 on the cradle for at leats 2 times.

Suggestion: Try (again) searching in older posts. Almost nobody these days knows the tricks of the Win98 anymore!

For win98 make sure you download DCom from the MS website and that yours is upto date.

If win98 hasne't been reinstalled in sometime you mgiht wanna consider that too

my sync station is also very tempermental. I haven't been able to sync for a few weeks. When I open the "phone connection link" is says CONNECTING, but it never actually connects.
