Phone connections in India have just crossed the 100 million mark. Telecom companies are anticipating the number will nearly treble in the next two years. A 2004 global survey showed India had the highest growth rate of new subscribers. India is still way behind China, with the largest subscriber base of 600 million in all- and other global players like US, Brazil, japan, germany, etc. But the current growth rates will almost certainly spell a new order in the future.
