Quote:Bahraini newspapers thus tend not to address issues such as political corruption, religious sectarian tensions, or criticism of the royal family or political figures. 17 Informal pressure on journalists is common; the Prime Minister, for example, has stressed “the importance of confirming any information before it was published so that it did not reflect negatively on the Kingdom or its neighbors” and stated that “Freedom must be within the boundaries of protecting the country's interests.”18 More stringent measures include the recent arrest of the founder and two operators of an on-line discussion forum, www.bahrainonline.org, where users posted allegations about corruption and about discrimination against Shi’a Muslims.19 The three men were detained for “criticising the royal family, inciting hatred of the government, spreading false news and rumours that could destabilise the nation, and violating the press code.”20 King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa reacted to the arrest by calling on journalists to show self-restraint, stating that “There are no limits to freedom, but this freedom should be based on patriotism.”21 While the men were freed on March 14, they still face charges, and Batelco was ordered to block the site permanently.22 ONI’s testing found the site blocked already. The sites is hosted on a server outside the state; thus, as these arrests demonstrate, Bahrain’s legal and technical regimes for Internet content control reinforce each other.23

Maybe he has been arrested .

Basically, he manages the forum which is hosted in the USA and it has been closed down and he arrested because opinions were posted that the authorities did not like.

I think he might want us to raise awareness but if it is already in the news then what can we do? Start a campaign?

What will happen to him if he gets charged?

He has asked:

"So I'm asking anybody here who have contact with Human Rights Orgranizations or any kind of Journalists Protection Organizations to help us with anything they can do.. "

Amnesty International??

He was arrested due to the views expressed by someone else in his forum? or he himself posted something which was unacceptable to the Bahraini government? This message was posted from a T230
