> Orange UK 'Download' app on P910i
Bookmark topic
What is the Download app on my Orange UK-branded P910i supposed to do?
I guess it's there to upgrade the phone's (branded) firmware, but when I try to initiate a new download, I get this message:
"Your device is up-to-date.
"There are no downloads available at this time."
Simply a case of Orange (as ever) being slow to get with the programme?

You'd like to think so, but in reality, no. SE have issued numerous upgrades on their site for non-branded phones since I bought mine. I think this message just means that Orange UK haven't kept up to date on the firmware side of things -- *if* that's what the Download app is all about.

i think thats because each operator (if your phone is branded) choses what the latest firmware you can have is. So our operators might not have authorised the latest versions ...

Agreed.
But isn't that a sorry state of affairs?! I think at best it's disrespectful to their customers, and at worst downright incompetent (if it causes update delays lasting many months).
