> Get P910 for US and UK?
Bookmark topic
I'm interested in getting a P910. I live in Los Angeles. I'm going to be in London for 5 weeks this summer.
1) Is Cingular the best/only provider in the US? I'm currently a Cingular subscriber.
2) Will the P910 I get for LA work in London with a SIM card from there? Or are they different bands of GSM?
3) If I can use the same phone, does anyone have advice on where to get a SIM card most economically, for calling to the UK and also to the US?
4) If not, anyone have advice on how to get a cellphone with Web/Email access for 5 weeks in London, as cheaply as possible?
5) If that can't be done cheaply, what about advice on just getting a short term mobile phone, for calling only to UK and US, cheaply.
Thank you
Mitch

i can awnser number one...
its NOT the only provider in the USA... there is tmobile, sprint, and alot more. I use cingular and am VERY pleased with it... my favorite part is if you dont use all your minutes, they roll over, so you have them extra just in case! so you most likley wont ever go over in your minutes. i feel like they are the best...but not the only ones.

2) P910 is triband so it should work in London BUT only if your phone is completely unlocked, i.e. not tied to cingular. You should then be able to use any UK networks' SIM card in it.
3) Several of the network providers over here have been giving away free sim cards with various amounts of texts and talk time for nothing lately, but I'm not sure whether or not the texts and talktime apply to international calls. I would guess not. Other than that, PAYG SIM cards usually cost from £5 - £15 depending on the network and where you buy them from. The cheapest places are usually Market stalls.
Web and email access on a PAYG SIM will be charged by the Megabyte (assuming you use GPRS) and again varies greatly from network to network but we're talking a couple of pounds per MB at the most here rather than tons of money. Unless you're a very heavy downloader, that is
4) Depends what you mean by web access. If you don't mind WAP, you should be able to get a SE T610 on PAYG pretty cheaply. It's not bad for email, I used mine for that purpose quite happily for well over a year. Also, there is a JAVA web browser that you can buy for the T610 at a reasonable price that does allow you to view most standard web pages.
