Just what the hell is going on here.
My 3 month old P910i is behaving particulalry crapily and Orange tell me it needs a firmware upgrade.
Never been able to get it to sync with my PC so I'm unable to do it online.
Orange wont do it in their shops, and SE can't direct me to anywhere but their postal service.
So I've gotta do my job without my phone for god knows how many days and put a £400 phone in the post at my own risk and expense.
I've done a search on here for similar problems and each thread seems to peter out with no effective solution........
Or maybe I should have bought a Nokia.

The original phone was bought from CPW, but this was an upgrade direct from Orange.
Suppose its worth a try though.

In my bitter experience, the bods at Orange UK more often than not talk utter twaddle.
Are you positive it needs this firmware upgrade? What are the specific problems you're having?

By the way, for an online sync service that works (certainly does with my Orange P910i), try
www.mobical.net, if that's what you need.
The Orange Sync service supports only the P900, and worse still, Orange have no current plans to provide support for the P910i.

Cheers for that, but I actually use that for my contacts/calender already. The sync I really need is to enable firmware upgrades etc.
Specific problems are an inability to delete SMS/MMS more that 2 or 3 at a time and not being able to delete missed calls/missed call alerts, without first deleting them then turning my phone an and off.
I also get a really bad line sometimes, which is cleared only by hanging up, turning phone off/on then re-dialing.

Try using the Storage Wizard to do the deletions instead.

Hmm, now that is a bummer. In your shoes, I would insist Orange replaces it -- the phone's clearly not "fit for purpose".
At the very least, it should be Orange sorting out the firmware update they say is necessary -- why should you have to p*ss about?!

You're spot on about the last bit. So i've decided to take a trip to my local Orange Shop.
Problem is, how can I be sure what version of firmware any replacement might have. How will I be sure that it will be any different until I get it home, charge it up and check ?

Why exactly cant you do an online firmware upgrade?
I saw you said you cant sync with the PC apps, but can you connect to the PC?
