I'm considering buying a P910i. I have a small business and we use POP mail through XO. I use client-side spam protection (Cloudmark SpamNet) on my PC and it catches HUNDREDS of spam emails per day. So far, the server-side spam protection from XO hasn't worked well enough - good emails get blocked too often.

Is there spam blocking available for the P910i, or will I need to get better server-side spam blocking?

Thank you,
Mitch

what email client you intend to use to connect to your server? are you considering push-mail solutions?

An e-mail server like RIM's Blackberry pushes e-mail to the device as an automatic alert that a new e-mail has arrived. While a "pull" e-mail client needs to connect to an Exchange server to pull/get the e-mails waiting for them.

I think you need a better spam blocker. To my knowledge there is no good program available for the P910i. But even if there were it would hawk a lot of resources on the phone.

cheaper and more efficient to block at the server than at the phone unless you are connecting to a ISP mail server.

Thank you for all the replies and your help.

It sounds like my best best is better Spam blocking on the server, and a push-mail solution. My email now sits on a POP server through my ISP (which is www.xo.com).

Push-mail is new to me. I definitely want that "Blackberry" functionality. Can you please explain how I'll get that set up? Will I get it through Cingular? Or will I pay Cingular for the phone service (and web access?) and someone else for the email service?
