I am from pakistan. I do not support this idea. We pakistanis believe that we got the country because we were being exploited by the British and Hindus. So we had to separate. Well, if it would be possible peacefully then it would be sure be a wonderful thing... because the people of both nations are quite similar in most aspects, and any religious differences can be easily adapted to, adjusted to and accepted by the people of both countries (as we are HUMAN BEINGS and have been given the cerebral power and ability to judge right from wrong and adjust accordingly).

But for achieving that, people should be mature enough to understand that beneath the hard exterior put up by both countries on the political and historical levels, most people do want peace and should do away with the historical mindset of enemity and rivalry that gets engrained in the children of both countries through the education curriculum and exposure to the "rivalry in the air" at a very young age..This should change in the interest of betterment of lifestyle and modernisation and progress as a whole through a change in the basic mindset of people which is the hardest thing to do...

But unfortunately in both countries there will always be sects of non-tolerant extremists who are impervious to change and because of whom such a possiblity of merging becomes an impossible one anywhere in the near or far future.

Anyway as for being a superpower i'm not too sure as both countries are still poor, but a merger will sure make it a formidable power. Esp in Cricket

Pak is separatd frm Ind by exploitation of not hindus or british but their own leaders.Or else no muslim would have lived in India.The 2countries can never join.Better they live happily separately.Already the militants have said that musharaf has sold their country 2india in the recent tour!
