> p910 vs p910i
Bookmark topic
Right, went to CPW (car phone warehouse) yesterday, and the clerk was explaining to me that the p910 and p910i were different phones, and that the p910 was more powerfull because of the software installed on it than the p910i. He was rubbing it in my face because I told him I had a p910i.
I asked if you could install the software that made the p910 more powerfull, on a p910i, and he said not without invalidating your warranty.
My question is what is the difference between the software, is it noticable to the extent he made it out to be, and is this simply different firmware?
soory if it a basic question, but i've been reading about firmware on this site, and then that guy kinda confused me...
Cheers
Azz

he was talking total rubbish. There is no P910, there is only P910i, P910a and P910c (for international, americas, china respectively)

Masseur was correct. Sometimes people refer to the P910i as just P910.
Carphone Warehouse staff should know better. Where was this CPW Branch?

agreed, but even if the guy did refer to P910i as P910 its an interesting story he made up about better software etc!
cpw is a good place to buy phones on upgrade, they always give me unbranded although I am with vodafone, but hopeless if you actually want to ask them any details. mot of the time they just refer to their latest catalogue for the info

Yhe, Ive always got my phones from CPW, as I've always found them hewlpful and relatively cheap, and at least you can buy the phones face to face rather than from a website where you may have trouble sending them back if theres a problem.
But ive also found the staff utterly stupid. One year a new guy had started and he was CRAP! but went back the next year to upgrade and he was actually quite good that time (same guy) he musta needed a year!
On most of my visits ive noticed that i know more about phones than the staff do - and im not a geek. i just think the staff are poo, but service is good.
Theres my rant

i 've never actually been able to get a phone outta carphone warehouse. I think all phone shops are too driven on trying to get the sale. I actually wrote to cpw about crap customer service - when an advertised phone had 15% off on it. However when I went to purchase it they said it was a mistake and they wouldnt remove the POS from the shop floor.
Buggers!

CPW are ok in my experiences. BUt thats concidering the fact that we all know lots about mobile telephony, to the average consumer they are good staff in there...apparently...

I don’t think that I have ever been to a phone shop (Phones 4U, CPW, The Link ets...) where the staff actually knows what they are on about...
There was a time where I nearly bought a Moto MPx200 and nobody knew what version of Microsoft Smartphone it had on, and some didn't even understand the question...
A while back I also asked if they had any information on the release of the Samsung E710/715 to which I got the response that phone doesn't exist... I explained I have seen it on the net and he said that the E700 was the newest phone and I must be confused... a week later the E710 was on the shelves...
Most of the time its not there fault just more of a training issue, but it just irritates me that they think everybody that goes into the shop knows nothing and that they are superior in knowledge about these things.
