Hi,

that's my question...

what dialing codes to send an sms from Europe to Canada?

and I suppose a second question is, it should work shouldn't it? Can sms be sent between countries? I wonder because they might not be treated the same as an email.....

604 is Vancouver I think? so before 1 604 ????

if you are sending sms intercontinental so to speak you should get your receiving partys' full number with the country code included

uk is +44 then mobile number (eg)

one more stupid question !1 Do I need the + before the 1,


UK is +44 but it can also be 0044 I think. When I call +81 to Japan I dial 0081

So can Canada be 001?

The + sign is made by holding down 0 until it becomes the + on a mobile phone keypad.

Not having to phone Canada much I didn't realise it was part of the US scheme according to AT&Ts website.
BT also have a full list of international country codes on their website (via Google)

which is why I got confused with Canada's codes.

My search using Google, showed 1 011 then the dialing area code!!

That's why I asked here because many wowuld be doing this and give advice by experience!

I sent 2 texts... just waiting for a reply!

My texts sent to China never ever arrive!

Did you give them maximum life so to speak in your sms settings ?
Depending on the network servers I have had texts to and from america take up to 24 hrs and longer,

Yes, validity period is set to maximum!

I will await the Canadian one's, and try some to my Chinese friend next month!

Most networks understand the + as the code for international connection, whatever this international code is (00 in most countries, but not all). Followed by the country code and then the phone number.
What is also important: if you phone in your own country, you can still type the full number, with + and country code, the network will simply skip the unnecessary digits and + sign (meaning it won't add any international fee to your bill). In my phonebook, all numbers are preceeded by the international code and country code, so that when I go abroad I never have to add anything to the number if I phone home or the office.
